Our site is set in the idyllic village of Wroxeter, just 4 miles East of Shrewsbury on the B4380. In walking distance are the famous Roman Vineyard and the Wroxeter Roman City and adjacent to the Wroxeter Hotel. The site is tranquil and sheltered, set on a small farm. The pitches are spacious, on a large level area of field, which is actually part of the scheduled monument, of the Roman City. There are views of the vineyard and the Wrekin (a 400 metre hill, with fabulous views to Wales on a clear day) and resident alpaca and sheep graze the adjacent fields . Shrewsbury medieval town is some 4 miles away and is the birthplace of Charles Darwin. With a few miles are also Much Wenlock, the birthplace of the modern Olympics and Ironbridge with many fascinating museums. Shropshire is a diverse county, with beautiful walking hills in the south and west and the flat terrain in the north. Telford with a bustling modern shopping centre is 5 miles away for those seeking their shopping fix!

Shrewsbury is the birthplace of Charles Darwin and home to the late famous gardener Percy Thrower, who inspired the annual Shrewsbury Flower Show is held in the Quarry Park which is second to Chelsea in size. 4 miles to the east of Wroxeter is the UNISEF world heritage site of Ironbridge, the 'birthplace of industry', where there are some ten museums to visit in the Ironbridge Gorge. The Wrekin, set in the Shropshire plain is an ideal walking hill at 400 metres, where bordering Wales can clearly be seen. The AONB South Shropshire Hills, offer a range of beautiful hills where you can walk for hours and never bore of the views. Ludlow boast amazing MIchelin star restaurants and Ludlow's annual food festival in the grounds of the Ludlow Castle. Near to the caravan site in Atcham is The National Trust, Attingham Park and on many weekends the National Trust hold special events. There are English Heritage Abbeys to visit at Buildwas and Haughmond. For rail enthusiasts the Severn Valley railway can be found in Bridgnorth a town with a historic railway to take you to high town. Also nearby is Much Wenlock, the home of the modern day Olympic Games. It is a stunning town to visit with many quaint shops. We are only around 1.5-2 hours from the Welsh coast. A perfect base to stop on the way to the seaside or to stay for a countryside holiday in unique surroundings. Now, Wroxeter itself also known as Roman Viroconium or Uriconium was the fourth largest Roman city in the United Kingdom. It is owned and managed by English Heritage, apart from the land of the Glebe Farm. Wroxeter was one of the first archaeological visitor attractions in the country. The site museum and audio tour reveal how Wroxeter worked in its heyday. In 2010 a project between English Heritage and Channel 4 saw a Roman town house built. A programme went out on the building called `ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY`. The caravan park is close to the River Severn and many tourist attractions. It is on a cycle and walking route. Buses run from by the Museum to Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and Telford. We would love you to come and stay and visit the unspoilt gem that is Shropshire!
