It will not work on your computerMonmouth is the birthplace of Henry V and has been a bustling town since the 1780's. At the bottom of the town is the 13th century Gatehouse Bridge over the river Monnow. Shire Hall was built in 1724 and was formally the centre for the Assize Courts and Quarter Sessions for Monmouthshire and is now a museum. Tintern Abbey originally founded in 1131 as a wooden church with the stone ruin of today being built from 1269 and is still regarded as a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. It was plundered during Henry V111's Dissolution of the Monasteries and gradually fell into disrepair. There are many churches and castles to explore in the region.
